The Effect of Art Therapy Including Creative Experiential Activities on Academic Self-regulatory Efficacy, Efficacy, and Motivation Regulation of an Adolescent with Vosovagal Syncope

Abstract
This study is intended to investigate the effect of art therapy including creative experiential activities on academic self-regulatory efficacy, confidency, and motivation regulation of an adolescent boy with Vasovagal Syncope. The participant of this research is a second grade male student from a high school in S city. The art therapy was conducted 18 times in total, from Aug, 14th to Feb 14th in 2014 (1 or 2 times per week, 50-60 minutes a session). The research tools are the academic self-regulatory efficacy scale and motivational regulation strategy scale. The data were compared and analysed in percentage terms and scores from pre-test, post-test and follow-up test. The findings are as follows: First, art therapy including creative experiential activities had a positive impact on an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope to his improvement of academic self-regulatory efficacy. Second, art therapy including creative experiential activities had a positive impact on an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope to his improvement of academic confidence. Third, art therapy including creative experiential activities had a positive impact on an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope to his improvement of motivation regulation. Follow-up test indicated that the effect of art therapy sustains as well. In conclusion, art therapy including creative activities had a positive effect on academic self-regulatory efficacy, confidency, and motivation regulation of an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope.
